On our second podcast episode, we welcome Dr. Matthew Holden. Matthew Holden is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at Carleton University. He completed his PhD in Computing at Queen’s University in 2018 and his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University in 2019. His primary research interest is in surgical data science, where he investigates machine learning methods for time series data collected in the operating environment. This enables real-time decision support and quality assurance during surgery, with the goal of improving patient outcomes.
